ELECTORAL ENGAGEMENT THAT ELEVATES THE ETERNAL GOD - PART 2
ELECTORAL ENGAGEMENT THAT ELEVATES THE ETERNAL GOD PART 2
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
By the time this blog entry is read, as a nation we will have elected the 47th President of the United States of America. But I wanted to continue our thought from the last week’s entry.
The Word of God declares that any nation who forgets or ignores God will be turned to hell or go to the grave with the wicked.
Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Conversely, a nation that purposes to promote and prioritize what is right in the eyes of God will be set in a lofty position to be blessed. I believe that God will bless America, stand beside America, and guide America when the people of America take heed in our heads and heart the words of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God”
The Holy scriptures is the Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 -17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophesy of scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Now the second half of Proverbs 14:34 state “but sin is a reproach to any people.”
The word “sin” equates to the condition of sin, guilt of sin contingent to the word of God, opposition and contempt for God and His Word.
In addition, the word “sin” in the Old Testament or the New Testament means to miss the mark, or to what I refer to as the supernatural or spiritual standard of God. There are two things to strongly consider in the comprehension of sin. First, there is a target we are to take aim at, and second it speaks to our purpose. Once we realize that there is a target, then we can choose to take a shot to hit the target or miss it.
The target is tantamount to God’s Word or divine directives; and when we miss this target, we sentence ourselves to the slavery of sin.
It’s also essential that we embrace the truth that sin violates and overtly opposes what God wants us to do.
1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Sin is holding the law of God in contempt. It is also linked to personal and corporate iniquity and wickedness.
Our opening text teaches us that when we are resolute in reflecting God’s righteousness our nation will rise in blessings, but the severe and negative influence of sin will set us in shame.
In our next time together, we will touch on the terrible and tragic repercussions of reproach or shame.
Not a sermon just some thoughts.
