For this week’s blog, I am led to direct our conversation toward married couples. If you are newlyweds or approaching your 60th wedding anniversary I believe that this blog will be beneficial to you. For our singles, I am sure that you also will be encouraged with wisdom that will speak to your singleness and service to our Sovereign Lord.

A Walk Out of the Dark

Looking back as a five-year-old I recall the enormity of darkness, the great lack of light that, I experienced standing on my Grandmother’s front porch at night. It was so immense that you could not see anything in front of you. You see, my grandmother Daisy Bell lived in the country in a small town named Jackson in Butts County, Georgia. The nearest neighbor was about a fifteen minute walk away and her house was about a thirty minute drive from town.  She lived in a white tin-roof house that sat on top of a ground made of red Georgia clay. Since the big Thursday that is Thanksgiving Day is on top of us, I wanted to turn our stomachs from the turkey and our focus from the football and instead fix our minds and hearts on the term Thanksgiving.  In our country Thanksgiving has been observed as a national holiday for close to four centuries. It’s an annual holiday discernible by religious observances and a traditional dinner in which the main menu feature is turkey...

The Pit of Porn - Part Three

It has been said, “Whatever captures the mind captures the man.” All throughout the ages Satan has used the lust of the flesh to capture the hearts and minds of men and women as well as demolish the mighty, the wise and the simple; from Adam to Sampson to Israelite Kings David and his son Solomon, as well as your common Joe and JoAnn Public. Pornography steals, kills and destroys relationships. The most important relationship that is incredibly injured and severely severed is our personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  The sin of porn punctures and separates us from God.
