A Mind and Mouth that Magnifies the Lord Part 3

A Mind and Mouth that Magnifies the Lord Part 3

O magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:3

The objective for this week’s blog is to close with some considerations connected to some practical means to assist us in cultivating and cementing our minds and mouths for the magnification of the Lord. Now before we begin, I believe it will be beneficial to contemplate why it matters to have a mind and mouth that will magnify the Lord and then we will proceed to point out some practical habits to promote both inward thinking (mind) and outward speech (mouth), that exalts or magnify God.

**The significance of coupling the mind and mouth for magnification of the Lord.

Our mind moves and shapes our beliefs and what we think about God. It also controls our conduct and our communication. Therefore, if your mind lodges in the loftiness of our Lord, such as His greatness, loving kindness, and faithfulness, our reactions and what we deem significant will support and shadow that certainty.

The mouth transmits testimony. Conversations carry impact! Things like our testimonies, teaching, worship and daily dialogue either magnify God or minimize Him. However constant communication that directs us to God develops and fortifies faith in others.

The mind and mouth should be a unified witness. When our thoughts and talk are tied together, they transmit a deep conviction that consequently creates faith that is expressed openly. In addition, it will forward a faith that travels in truth and in turn is transmittable.

**Holy Habits for developing a mind that moves in the magnification of God.

A deliberate and daily devotion towards a scriptural focus. Be resolute in reading passages that reveal God’s character (Psalms, The Gospels & Romans). Reading and pondering the passages of God’s word will place you in a position that permits the truth to reform and renew your mind's portrait of God.

Take the time to engage in thoughtful journaling.  Reflect and record the many moments that you’ve experienced God’s provision, mercy, strength or wisdom.  Endeavor to entertain them when skepticisms surface.

Make it a regular practice of renewing your thought life. Replace worried or insignificant thoughts with biblical truths about God’s sovereignty, greatness and goodness.

**Monumental methods to use your mouth to magnify the Lord.

Prioritize praise and thanksgiving. Purpose to praise the Lord and be deliberate in displaying thanksgiving. Have a habitual heart for prayer and conversation with the Lord. This will condition the heart to perceive and process the powerful works of God.

Share the God stories. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! Share brief, specific stories of God’s deeds and wonderful works in your life and in the world. This will walk souls to His goodness and thereby make his goodness tangible for them.

Endeavor to exercise in edifying speech. Decide to engage in discourse that encourages, teaches, and points people toward the Lord Jesus Christ as opposed to opening the gross can of gossip and iniquitous individualized promotion.

Be bold but humble in proclaiming the truth. Declare the truth of the Gospel directly, trusting God to use your words while remaining peaceful but precise and respectful.

In closing a mind and mouth that magnifies God will move us and others from minimization to majestic magnification of God.
