A Man According to Our Master and Maker (GOD) - Part 3

A Man According to Our Master and Maker (GOD) -- Part 3

"Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quite you like men, be strong." — 1 Corinthians 16:13

Real men do not eat only quiche but dine in quotes/words of God.

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." — Matthew 4:4

This text emphasizes the essentiality of the Word of God, specific to being supper and sustenance for our souls. The Living Word (Jesus) points us to the reality that physical food is required, but spiritual sustenance is critical for spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The Word of God provides a divine diet for direction, spiritual and emotional growth, in addition to anchoring us through life’s trials.

"Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts." — Jeremiah 15:16

In Jeremiah 15:16, the prophet provides us a picture of personally benefiting from the food (God’s Word) on his spiritual plate. By internalizing and processing the Word of God, it brought him immense joy and purpose.

This passage also points us to the unequivocal truth that the Word of God grants us the transforming power to change. It can also bring about gladness, hope, strength, and a sense of acceptance to those who adopt it as their authority.

(1 Corinthians 16:13-14) According to these verses, a true man is alert against peril, faithful to the truth, valiant in confronting opposition, steady in storms, and most importantly, committed in compassion and love.

Furthermore, the Word of God’s requirements for elders and deacons contain a virtuous portrayal of a godly man: According to 1 Timothy 3:2-9, he is obligated to occupy a good reputation with those outside the kingdom so that he will not tumble into shame and into the devil’s ditch.

A real man is someone who has deliberately divorced himself from juvenile pursuits and practices — “childish things” (1 Corinthians 13:11) — and recognizes what is right and rests firm in what is right in the eyes of God.

A real man is a godly man. He loves the Lord; he delights in his deliverance from death that is derived from sin life, and he loves those whom the Lord has assigned to his care.

To be men of courage and be strong — that is, marked by maturity (cf. 1 Corinthians 14:20) — and not infants easily swept aside.

Manhood is not just about age or physical strength and size, but integrity, accountability, and our approach to morality and our testimony to the truth, which is Jesus!

Consider the call for all men that fear God:

"But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." — 1 Timothy 6:11-12
