GOD’S FAITHFULNESS TO ISRAEL AND THE BODY OF CHRIST PART 2
GOD’S FAITHFULNESS TO ISRAEL AND THE BODY OF CHRIST PART 2
For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness (unfailing love) shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. — Isaiah 54:10
The Word of God is completely consistent and clear that the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob—the Triune God: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit—is committed to protecting the nation of Israel. We know that His faithfulness is supreme.
Our infinite God is immutable. In other words, we see time and again that GOD DOES NOT CHANGE, and His promises to Israel echo His eternal and unwavering love and dedication. I invite you to present an uninterrupted conscience—that is, your head and heart—to hear, see, and remember that just as He consistently supports Israel, He also stands ready to be our refuge and strength in times of ambiguity and anxiousness.
The following passages forward the faithfulness of God toward His people:
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. — Psalm 121:3–4
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. — Jeremiah 31:3
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. — Deuteronomy 31:6
From the first book of the canon (Genesis) to the Apocalypse (Revelation), any objective reader will reach the conclusion that God’s faithfulness is considerably cemented in His covenants and fulfilled through His actions throughout generations.
Let’s take time to travel down the road of biblical instruction pertaining to the promises and personal engagement and investment toward God’s people (Israel).
Our Father God’s faithfulness commences with His covenant to Abraham: I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. — Genesis 12:2–3
And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry... and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians. — Exodus 3:7–8
God overhears the cries of oppression and the beatdown of bondage that the Israelites were subjected to in Egypt. Our loving and merciful God liberates them, displaying His loyalty to His covenant.
Finally, from reading Scripture, we can fix our eyes on the fulfillment of God’s promises for His people. Again, reading the Word of God, we discover that when Israel enters the Promised Land, not one of His promises to Israel collapsed or caused the people to be disheartened. Even when His people were drunk with disobedience and staggering in their sin and ill with infidelity (idolatry), God put forward faithful leaders to redirect them.
There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass. — Joshua 21:45
So, the Scriptures strongly teach that God’s faithfulness to Israel is cemented in His foundation of faithfulness, not their feats.
Not a sermon. Just some thoughts.
