Processing Presumptuous Sin Part 2
Processing Presumptuous Sin Part 2
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Psalm 19:13
Our opening text disclosed David’s preventive prayer against presumptuous sins. In his prayer, he signals to us two types of presumptuous sins: those that are concealed and unintentional, and presumptuous sins that are openly manifested and intentional. From the Word of God, we understand that our intentional sins and unintentional sins must secure God’s forgiveness.
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
So, David humbly prays to God for sanctification, safety, and forgiveness for both types of sins. David is also fully aware of the failures forwarded from the flesh.
From last week’s Blog entry, I forwarded the fact with respect to presumptuous sins that are intentional acts of rebellion against eternal ethics and our Eternal Father, who is the absolute authority.
There are four aspects about presumptuous sins (intentional) that can assist us in our perception regarding this pernicious sin:
It is deliberate: the individual knows the act is wrong but elects to do it anyway.
It is thought-out: often prearranged or well thought out in advance.
It is conceited: it reflects pride or an arrogant acceptance that one knows better than biblical instruction.
It is spiritually perilous: it can harden the head and heart and consequently converge on one’s conscience to a perilous partnership with apostasy and a sympathetic God.
Heads and hearts that harbor hostility toward a Holy God will have no hope for a relationship with a Holy and understanding God because they purposely process God with illicit impunity and insidious pride.
Romans 8:6-8 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
The teachings of our Lord and God Jesus, and apostolic texts, charge Christians (born-again individuals) to humility, repentance, and righteous relent to God’s will, as well as being aware of His admonitions and the awful judgment that awaits the insolent individual to our INFINITE God.
Hebrews 10:29-31 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Intentional presumptuous sins push you to step and stride on the Savior’s sacrifices, and this will sign up a soul’s separation from God forever—AKA THE SECOND DEATH! (Revelation 21:8)
Not a sermon, just some thoughts.
